Hi,

I’m Just a Mum

Real family travel, simple adventures and practical everyday life from South West Victoria and beyond.

I’m a wife and mum of two girls based in South West Victoria, sharing real family travel, simple adventures and practical everyday life.

Like most families, we’ve had seasons where we could travel freely — and others where we’ve had to get creative with what we had. That’s where this all started.

We love getting out and exploring — whether that’s a weekend away, a caravan park, a coastal stop, a river, a bush camp or simply finding somewhere new close to home.

Over the years we’ve travelled in everything from a brand new caravan to swags, tents, camper trailers, cabins, motels and resorts — and I’ve learnt that the best memories don’t always come from spending more.

How this all started

My husband is a Dairy Farm Manager and we live on-farm. Working where you live can make it hard to switch off unless you physically leave, and I think that’s where our “just make it happen” attitude comes from.

Before kids, we’d just drive

Before we had kids, we’d throw the swag in the ute tray, pick a direction and drive with no real plan. Sometimes we’d end up in a motel, sometimes beside the ute in the swag.

Some of our best memories came from those trips — driving all night, listening to music, laughing together and simply reconnecting.

These days look a little different

Things look a little different these days with two girls heavily involved in gymnastics, but we still love spontaneity.

Quite often while the girls are at Saturday morning training, we’ll jump on Booking.com, sort Victoria from low to high within our budget, pick somewhere random for the night and just go.

The girls love the surprise and we get to create memories we never would have made sitting at home.
